NEW DELHI --?UTV Motion Pictures has signed multiple TV syndication deals for satellite and terrestrial rights, for both overseas territories and India, worth over $1 million for some of its catalog titles.
UTVMP has signed a deal with South Korea's Daehan Mediaworldwide for exclusive terrestrial TV rights for five of its films, including historical epic Jodhaa Akbar, urban drama Life In A Metro?and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Delhi-6.
In the Middle East, UTVMP has sold some titles to Kuwait-based Al Rai TV for a limited period. The titles in the non-exclusive satellite free to air deal include Jodhaa Akbar, Race and Kismat Konnection.
Targeting the overseas diaspora, UTVMP has pacted with leading Indian broadcaster Zee Network for non-exclusive telecast rights for 13 films, including Wake Up Sid, Wednesday and Delhi-6. These films will be aired on Zee's international channels.
Meanwhile, in India, UTVMP has licensed five titles for exclusive terrestrial rights to statecaster Doordarshan that include terrorism drama Kurbaan, political caper Raajneeti and romcom I Hate Luv Storys?for a limited period with limited runs.?
Indian deals also include a 10-movie pact with satellite movie channel Enterr 10 (based in central India's Madhya Pradesh state) for titles including Jodhaa Akbar and Race.
UTV has also signed a 13-movie deal with Bollywood movie channel B4U Movies for?non-exclusive satellite rights for a limited term for titles like Race, Fashion and Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!
UTVMP has also signed a 10-movie deal with another Bollywood channel Zoom for a limited period.
?For our strong library titles, these television syndication deals add significant revenue even after the first round of exploitation. Our endeavor is to monetize our IP (intellectual property) over several platforms on an ongoing basis,"?UTVMP senior VP, international distribution and syndication?Amrita Pandey said.?
UTVMP's upcoming titles include Heroine that recently announced at Cannes, starring top actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the title role of a Bollywood superstar.
In addition, UTVMP recently inked a coproduction deal with Walt Disney Company India to co-produce a slate of Disney branded films ?aimed at family audiences.?
