Mavericks to Lose Assistant Coach to Raptors

Whenever a team wins a championship there is one thing you can almost count on?they are bound to lose at least one assistant coach before the next season starts. It?s not that he?s done a bad job, but that he?s getting his chance as a head coach somewhere else.

That appears to be the case for Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey. His name emerged as the favorite last week, and there has now been word that he has agreed to become the new head coach of the Toronto Raptors.

It will not be the first time that Casey has headed up an NBA franchise. He spent time during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons as the Minnesota Timberwolves head coach, leading them to a record of 53-69. Since then his name has been a common one floated around.

Toronto is expected to make an official announcement as early as Tuesday.
