Once upon a time antiques furniture were all around the Kings and Queens. Today there are no more Kings, but antiques can be found everywhere, almost anywhere. in museums, traditional cottages, new homes, schools, even at offices and always at a corner shop.
Some people collect antique furniture as a hobby. They find the stories attached to them interesting. Not to mention that they are rare and if you own them, you are special. so you become a member of an exclusive group of people in the society.
Some of us hold on to our ancestral possessions and pass it on to our children. Then there is a family history that is hidden in them. Whether an old rustic teak side table or renovated oak drawers, they all have a stories behind them, years of history. Only if they could speak
What makes them unique is the craftsmanship and art work. if you are hunting for a particular desk or chair from a certain era, it may take some time to find. They are rare and precious. if you want to decorate your holiday home with some great antique furniture, there are many places you can find them.
People today do not make furniture like antique furniture. so if you find a newly made one, then they are not antiques. They are called antiques as they have been made ages ago, could be fifty years or hundred years. Buying the original sofa bed or a set of intricately carved chairs is a big challenge.
They usually cost more than the usual furniture you can find in the furniture shops. the best place to find the original pieces are antique stores and online antique stores. if you like to participate in auctions, then you could grab a bargain while doing online shopping.
